"I think the first time I wanted to
be in a band was watching “The
Monkees” TV show in the 60’s. Seemed
to me that singing, running around
and having adventures was enough for
any boy!
Fast forward to about 1973/4 and I
began my musical journey when I was
asked to be the drummer in a new
band at school. I didn’t have a kit
and couldn’t play, but of course
said yes and furiously started
learning.
School led to university and “Psycho
Hamster” a unique psychedelic
experience and stalwarts of free
festivals in the late 70’s, early
80’s. At the same time I joined “the
Treatment”, whose legendary status
as psychedelic eccentrics still
ripples out.
The mid 80’s saw a shift towards a
more mainstream pop direction,
eventually culminating with
critically acclaimed but
commercially doomed “the Company She
Keeps”. When the “Company” folded I
continued to play covers bands and
the odd “Treatment” revival. My
passion for the Beach Boys was
partially satisfied in the
short-lived tribute band “Endless
Summer”, but it was only in the
band’s resurrected form as “The
Beached Boys” that things really
came together.
For me playing has always been about
GREAT SONGS and having FUN, FUN,
FUN, and the music of the Beach Boys
gives me the sheer joy of paying
tribute to one of pop’s finest
bands."
